When you have an abortion, you’ll be bleeding immediately but this isn’t a typical period. For surgical abortions, you will wakeup bleeding following your procedure. If you are using the abortion pill you will bleed as the abortion completes.
Normally it takes a few days, and up to a week, to stop bleeding following an abortion.
Your next period will usually come in four to six weeks after your abortion. It is possible to get pregnant after an abortion and miss that first period.
